First I wish to express my gratitude to all who have served and still do,
in order to make the World a better place.
This collage is the front and back of a Christmas postcard my Aunt Dorothy
sent to her beloved big brother, and my Dad, in 1943. He was in the 8th Air
Force, stationed in England; and my Aunt was in the Women's Army Corps, her
duties were Radio Operator. She was stationed in France when she sent this card.
By a wonderful bit of fate, they later bumped into each other one evening
while Marching in opposite directions in the streets of London. They had to
use a tremendous effort of will not to break ranks when they spied each other.
Also shown is the ID badge of my Dad, and the membership he earned when his
B17 was hit, right after a bombing mission over Germany. He spent the rest
of WWII in Stalag Luft 1, and returned home after the War ended in reasonably
good health and excellent spirits.
Service men and women miss so many holidays and family events.. and that is if
they are fortunate. So many do not return. My thoughts and prayers to these
men and women and their families...
Lest we Forget...
