At Pak Lai I caught a riverboat south-east to Vientiane, an all-day journey. Although the scenery along the Mekong is better in the north than in this eastern region, I still enjoyed the journey. It was the best part of my excursion south-west from Luang Prabang.
After taking the photo of sunrise over the river, my camera seized up dramatically, and it seemed that I had lost all the photos of the past seven days, including some from Luang Prabang and all from Nong Khiaw, Muang Ngoi and Sainyabuli. Thanks to the technical wizardy of Camera Clinic in Collingwood, however, these photos have been recovered and added to these galleries.
After a final two days in Vientiane I flew home via Kuala Lumpur.
