Cedar Waxwing Displaying

The behavior in this image was very interesting. The bird on the left was side-hopping toward the right bird, but without any food gift. It also had its head tipped up all the time. The right bird never faced the left bird . It flew away. I'm not sure if this was pair bonding behavior or not. Talk about the one that got away, I did get pictures of two waxwings sitting next to each other and passing the serviceberry back and forth. The camera decided to act up. SD card malfunctioned and didn't record the shots. Perfect light and all! I never caught them doing it again. The serviceberry bushes are close to the house and the sunroom. I sit out there for my meals with the camera right near me. As soon as I see some good bird action in the bushes, I go across the room, slide open the screen door, and slowly lean out or step onto the deck to get images. Some birds spook immediately, but others are quite tolerant. It's very fun for me. Once the berries are gone, so are the waxwings, grosbeaks, and purple finches. The grosbeaks and purple finches will continue to come to the seed feeders.
