Better late than never...here's a full size part of the bird. As we can see the feather details are fine and when we downsize the image the details will disappear.
The noise from the 50D however is quite severe. It's because it has such a small pixels. However when you downsize much of the noise goes away. I spend more time in post-processing with the images from the 50D compared to the much less noisy 5DmkII and 1DmkIII.
In this image the bird is facing into the picture with the tail closer to us and the head further away. The DOF was not enough to cover the complete bird. The midday light is also terrible...
