This root crop is used in one of my favorite Pinoy dishes - Chicken Tinola! Its natural
anti-bacterial properties helps delay the spoilage of chicken in such soup/broth-based dishes.

Its juices may also be used as a natural gargle that effectively flushes out pesky
phlegm and as 'salabat' - a popular and healthy hot drink alternative to coffee.
