Stirling engines are quite fascinating. Some are solar powered, some alcohol or most anything which will burn and I even have a 'temperature differental' engine which senses the difference in temperature between the top plate and bottom plate.

That would be a "low temperature differential" engine. Seeing as how ALL stirling engines would require a temperature differential to work. Those with a burner are High Temperature Differential engines. LTDs that are well-built requires no more than a 5 degree difference between the displacer and the work cylinder.
