Flamelicker

This is another version of a Stirling engine, 'powered' by an Alcohol burner, this is actually an 'External Combusion' engine. The little oil can is actually a burner (note the wick) and the flame is sucked into the cylinder via the port on the side. (hence the name 'Flamelicker' or 'Flame Eater.' It is very interesting to watch this engine run via the action of expansion and contraction.

I HAVE SOLD THIS ENGINE AND NO LONGER HAVE IT IN MY COLLECTION.

This model is very similar to the one my grandfather built in 1950. I have been looking for the design. I was told that it was in a popular mechanics issue. I found a flamelicker in the December 1938 issue but it does not really look like this one.

Do you happen to know where this model originated?
