This is a cheap and versatale walk-around lens, light, fairly sharp images and a good price/performance rate. The colour and contrast reproduction are not of the same qualitity level as my Canon 350D. I only use it on travelling light.

Recently brought this lens and I am well pleased, it makes an excellent walkabout lens and has a very good range and performs well

Update: Was able to exchange at shop and new copy is WAY better...
Unfortunately I didn't keep any of the old images to compare.

Ok, I think I was a little upset before but I'm better now ;)
Its not that bad but the FZ20 is better quality in most shooting conditions except of course in very low light when higher ISO is necessary.
Sorry for the rant... :|

I just bought a Sigma 18-125 for my 350D based partly on images seen here.
WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT!!! I may have a bad copy because images are quite soft. :(
My FZ-20 images are sharper and have richer colours. I think you'd have to spend about 3X or 4X the price of the FZ-20 (or any good P&S) to get better images from a DSLR.
I may send the lens to Sigma and see what they have to say.
Can anyone send me an image or 100% crop of a sharp example with no modification....
A bit upset... evandavies1@hotmail.com

Hello,
i'm wondering reading the positive comments here. Via camera search i wasn't able to find even ONE sharp photo taken with this lens here. Weird.

I'm lens snob. Other lenses owned included Canon 16-35 f2.8 L, Canon 50mm 1.4, Tamron 28-75, and Canon 70-200 f4/L). But I still own and am very happy with the Sigma 18-125. It's an incredibly versatile range, light, and reasonably priced. Does it take images with the same sharpness and color depth & contrast as the L glass? No. But it does do remarkably well and makes a great walk-around lens when you need the very flexible range and a light lens.
