What a great lens. Meets and improves on the EFS 17-85mm f4-5.6. Seems sharp enough for my taste and the focus is very good and quick. The IS works well. I hope what I have read is correct and this lens fixes the flex cable desigh fault in the EFS 17-85mm lens. (I bought this as a replacement after mine failed - seehttp://www.pbase.com/barry_2718/efs1785mm ) - Barry
