Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens Sample Photos and Specifications

Just bought one used to try as a standard lens on 5d mkii. The 24-105 is too huge and heavy for me to be happy walking around with it. The copy of this lens I got is just as good as that lens at f 5.6-8, not quite as good wide open, but so far, for the big reduction in size, weight, and droopiness of the camera-lens combo, I'm willing to put up with that; just wish I hadn't wasted the money on the 24-105 to start with.

Nice 'standard' lens, but not perfect. There are better, but they are more expensive. I prefer the 28-135mm IS USM, but the 24-85 has a slight edge in the wider angle. It takes a fairly sharp shot, but lacks a bit in the telephoto range. Nonetheless, a good walkabout lens I suppose.
