Portraiture in India

In making the most of India's greatest natural resource...its people.
I spend a lot of my time exploring out of the way villages
and the obscure corners of Pune city...looking for whatever catches my eye.
The photographer for the most part is welcome to shoot freely....
also to enjoy the diverse cultural wealth and gracious hospitality of its people.
Economic poverty is unfortunately ever present...and yet the human spirit prevails.
It is that quality that I seek to find and likewise discover in myself.

To my regret I´ve never been to India, and I guess, I never will... But: For me there is no doubt that - if really God has created this world and its creatures - he LOVES them - looking at HIS children - I am sure - he has no other choice... Thanks for these pictures, Anathea

I love the 're-mastered' gallery Bruce! It brings back memories for me. Almost every one of these images triggers the recall of some story or another that I've kept somewhere in my mind. Nice work Bruce. There is a plethora of 'photograhic' opportunities in India. You have captured some of the best images. However, a lot of India is not like the images, which are dark, but do not show the light within. Nonetheless, the images are captivating.

Bruce, you must be a saint! That man with the beard and the skull who seems to smile at death. Is that Jesus? Or is it the Kisan farmer who looks nailed to the cross? What about that red-haired man with a moon-halo around his head? Is that him? I don't know. But like Mother Theresa, who saw Jesus in the faces of everyone, you have gone to a place that few of us would dare to go. Please tell us what kind of camera and lens that you used. Many people who show their pictures here do.
