Alexander Sorokin

Welcome to my Alexander Sorokin gallery.

It was a great pleasure to meet the artist Alexander Sorokin during a trip to Valldemossa, Mallorca in early June 2010.
Alexander and his wife, Svetlana Sherbina, were holding an exhibition of their work in La Cartuja Monastery
and they were happy for me to spend a few minutes catching Alexander at work on one of his larger pieces.

La Cartuja is a former 14th-century monastery famous for having been the residence of the composer
Fryderyk Chopin and his companion Georges Sand from the winter of 1838 to 1839.

Thanks to everyone for your comments on Alexander - much appreciated! We had the opportunity to drop in and visit Alexander in his Valledemossa gallery again last week on a flying visit to Mallorca. When I introduced myself he said "you're the chap with the website!" It was so wonderful to meet him and his wife again. On this occasion I presented him with an A2-size print of the photo of Alexander on the ladder in B&W and several other A4 prints of the photos above. He was overjoyed and absolutely insisted on offering me some of his own work in exchange - he wouldn't let me leave until he had done so. I'll post a few of the photos we had taken together later on. As everyone says, he is such a wonderful person to meet and I would strongly recommend anyone visiting this area of Mallorca to drop in and view his magnificent paintings.

We met Alexander last week, he is a lovely man and a brilliant artist - his work is a feast for anyones eyes!! There is something about this man and his talent which is very special I think! :o) x I am looking forward to framing and displaying the lovely prints I bought at the gallery and will look forward to meeting him again when he comes to London.

Yes, we agree with the comments here. We met Alexander, in Palma de Mallorca, yesterday. He has an exhibition here at the moment and, we too ended up buying some of his lithographs. His paintings are great!! And, he is such a nice, gentle, warm person. We enjoyed our chat with him and are hoping to go to Valldemossa soon, to see more of his work, as they have an exhibition there for the whole of February. His wife is there with it at the moment. My wife and I went to his exhibit / store in Valldemossa, Mallorca, Spain yesterday. His artwork is really beautiful. There's something a bit Picasso-like to his art that -- when combined with his creativity, imagination, style, and use of vibrant colors -- really gets your attention. I also liked the fact that he incorporated modern-day concepts (like a couple of his works that reference The Beatles) to mark it's place in our history. If we could have afforded his original paintings, and figured out how to transport it to the US, we would have bought at least one. We did buy a handful of his lithographs (smaller replicas of the original pieces) that are beautiful. Apart from being a great artist, he's a nice guy. He took a couple of photographs with us and seemed like a very genuine person. Thank you Alexander for the great memory of Valldemossa, and for the stunning art.

I met Mr Serokin in Valdemossa too and I was nicely surprised by his original, wonderful paintings! They have such a good energy and are simply beautiful. I wish I had one of them Kasia Szeloch, Poland, Warsaw
