Since joining PBase, we've received messages from people all over the world, surprised by the variety of birds that call Central Park home for all or part of the year. Central Park is one of the world's best birdwatching sites based on its geographic location. In the book Birding Basics, renowned author and artist David Sibley says, "Migrating birds that find themselves anywhere in the vicinity of Manhattan, gravitate toward Central Park, the largest patch of natural habitat in the area". This gallery contains a sample of the 200+ bird species we have seen in the park. All pics were taken in Central Park and also reside in their own taxonomic gallery. Images on P1 are from 2004-2009, P2 from 2010-2018.
