Nice hockey shots. I shoot a lot of hockey as well, youth, high school and college. You can check out some of my shots from some college and youth games at my gallery pbase/dakzoo. Shooting with Canon 20D and Canon 70-200 f/2.8 non-VR. I'm considering the Sigma 120-300 as I tend to spend a lot of time cropping after the fact.
My biggest complaint about shooting through the glass is at most rinks, you end up hunting for a place that the glass isn't all beat to hell with puck and stick marks. The college rinks and pro rinks do a good job of cleaning the glass to make it easier to shoot through, but your average local rink doesn't find that area of maintenance important. - Doug Arnold
Mark- I love the ice level shots! And I agree you with on the lighting in most rinks being really poor. I shoot at a public rink (high school level hockey) which luckily has pretty decent light. I shoot from a platform to the right of the goalie (shooting over the boards). Your pics have made me realize what I'm missing with that high angle. Very nice job! and with an unfamiliar camera no less. -Sally
