13th March

I had even more problems today shooting a PAD. I tried photographing a spinning CD in my mini hifi but that didn't work out. I went into the garden and fired off some abstracts, they were poor. I tried getting some good shots of my cat, Smudge, but she wouldn't pose for me. I took some shots directly at the bulb of my 5 million candle light torch but that looked poor. I even took photos of stagnant water in a candle holder in the garden to no avail. So, back to the fail safe, still life then.

I desaturated the whole photo apart from the red parts of this pen.

I didn't realise this PAD business would be so difficult!

Really nice job with selective desaturation. I like the simple composition; it works for me.

I think your frustration about what to shoot has produced an outstanding image Geoff! I still "cheat" and use some of my older images for PaD, but these will run out soon and I'll have the "creative deadline", true photo-a-day people adhere to. Great fun all of this!:o)

It wouldn't be this interesting if it was easy. This is some sharp shooting Geoff! The color effect on the pen is what makes this, I usually don't like the particular effect but you have used it well and made a very interesting photo out of it. Good stuff!

Geoff, I think you'll find difficult days mixed in with the easy ones. You've done a great job so far so keep it up.

Looks like your persistence paid off. Cool shot. Who would've thought a pen could make such a great photo.

Difficult but very satisfying when you look back and see how much you improve. Believe me, you'll find yourself dreaming PotD soon!
