The Country Club a few miles from us put on a particularly large fireworks display this Memorial Day weekend. Because I had no intention to photograph this event (or even remembered that it might happen), I just grabbed a humble Bridge Camera and fired off a few handheld shots.
This Country Club is by invitation only exclusive. I've been told that if you ask "how much" the membership may cost, then, you absolutely can't afford it. Nevertheless, we (not members) do occasionally get to see their fireworks displays (random) for free from our yard. That was great when our trees were not as tall as they are now. We used to be able to see most of the entire show.
Now, we usually only get a peak like this. Or less.
Looking at my camera speed and the high ISO, I'm a little surprised that this handheld shot from my bridge camera (horrible noise @ high ISO's) actually turned out pretty good. Shooting fireworks handheld with a tiny sensor bridge camera is a totally different ball game than using a DSLR on a tripod. But you use whatever you have. Sometimes, it works out.
Here is a different blast that mostly cleared the tree tops: https://pbase.com/britestar/image/172653608
