Equinoxes happen twice a year: once in March and once in September. During the spring (or vernal) equinox, the sun’s direct rays strike Earth’s equator before crossing into the Northern Hemisphere. While it’s the first day of spring in North America, Europe and Asia, places in the Southern Hemisphere are marking the end of summer and beginning of autumn.

But no matter where you live, the equinoxes are unique because daylight and darkness are nearly equal everywhere on Earth. Sunday is one of only two days of the year — the other being the autumnal equinox in September — when both hemispheres experience approximately 12 hours of daylight and darkness.

An interesting surprise on the first day of Spring.
I'm late getting my flower seeds planted indoors to transplant for the warm weather months to come outside. However, Mother Nature gave me a little boost. Although I didn't keep any of my zinnias from 2021, I did Winter-over a couple of pots of petunias. The petunias currently aren't in bloom. But this tiny, lone Zinna bloomed today. I didn't even realize that it was growing in the pot. It only has 4 tiny leaves. Despite the color being slightly different than the original zinnia plant, I think this flower may be the variety "Hot Ruby". That was what was sitting outdoors next to the petunia pot with this surprise 2022 zinnia flower.

COVID News

A new season and the pandemic continues on.
1,300 Americans died from COVID yesterday.

However, most Americans are ignoring that.
Instead, they are doing their best to continue on with their lives as if everything was once again just as normal this Spring as it was in the Spring of 2019.

There is talk of a second booster shot; which would be a 4th COVID vaccination. But the Federal government is running out of money to be able to provide boosters for all.
