Another ONE MILLION new cases in 15 days. Obviously the COVID-19 Pandemic is continuing on in the USA…

“It is what it is.”

Odds for a “good outcome” are better for those who are vaccinated. However, even the vaccinated aren’t totally safe. Especially, older individuals. Although there are no mandates like back in 2020, local health officials are now recommending that seniors and the immune compromised “self-isolate”; even if fully vaccinated with a 3rd booster shot.

Too many unvaccinated hosts have helped the virus to thrive to the point of also infecting the fully vaccinated. The light at the end of the tunnel has thus moved farther away. Due to the actions of “man”, it now seems like it will be impossible to ever completely turn the tide. One can only hope that nothing worse than Delta comes along to make the current vaccines totally ineffective.

Some areas of the US are more vaccinated (and “safer”) than others. Unfortunately, we live in a low vaccination/high transmission part of the country. Our State Attorney General is also suing the Federal government (at the expense of our tax dollars) to eliminate Federal mask mandates that may help slow down the virus. I don’t understand this, but to quote the former President again, “It is what it is”.

We are just doing our best to NOT become a statistic.

Some people in our circle have sadly become COVID statistics… They were fully vaccinated. If anyone in a home comes into contact with someone carrying the Delta variant, they can then infect their entire family. Therefore, no one is really safe if an member of the household has outside contacts. However, vaccination, wearing a mask, social distancing, and being outdoors do offer some level of protection.

One Million new cases of COVID in 2 weeks is not an acceptable level. It’s better than one million in a week or less, but it’s still pretty terrible.
