Nighttime Visitor 2020

American Toad

in the rain

Above Image:
Ridiculously high ISO. Shot 'Live View' on a very dark, rainy night.

The Canon 7DII doesn't handle high ISO especially well. I had to use a small, dim camping lantern to get enough light for any sort of photo. The lantern gives off mood lighting at best. But with ISO 16,000 and a fast shutter speed, I did get a couple of hand held shots. It's always nice when the impossible becomes possible. Yes, there is noise, but I like what I got. It fits the mood of the experience.

This guy was bigger than the toads I'm used to seeing here.
Hopefully, he eats some of the mosquitoes that attacked me while I was shooting his photo.
In just 2 days, the mosquitoes have gotten out of control.

USA COVID News:

Rep. Donna Shalala: “ It should come as no surprise that the doubters and conspiracy theorists keep getting infected - I hope they all get well soon. The coronavirus is very real folks. Wear a mask. Save lives.” The Hill

Heart damage lingers in COVID-19 patients, even after recovery. There is new evidence that COVID-19 can have lasting effects on heart health, which may go undetected in patients who assume they have recovered from the infection. Two studies show how the virus can linger in the heart for months, even without producing symptoms.” The Hill

“More than 2,100 deaths have been reported in the past week in Texas. The trend in virus deaths generally lags the trend in infections, reflecting the delays between when people test positive, when they die and when those deaths are reported.” NY Times

Trump’s new “respected” COVID expert: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stella_Immanuel
Read her entire bio & then ask yourself if this is where you would seek medical advice.
President Trump said at a press conference on July 28: "I thought she was very impressive.”
On July 29, he doubled down on his opinion.

The Daily Beast reports: "Her outlandish claims include the belief that alien (like in outer space) DNA is used in medical treatments, and that some medical issues are caused by demons who have sex with sleeping humans."
Shades of the ‘Exorcist’!!!

With the leader of our country turning in such a direction, no wonder America is in such big trouble. If the coronavirus situation wasn’t so deadly (literally) serious, any logical person normally would only laugh.

So much for just one day of COVID-19 in the USA. And I haven’t even touched the surface of things that have happened today. Assuming the country survives & I am someday able to look back on these notes, I’m sure I will have trouble believing that this all really happened.

a bit of noise is apt for such a textured creature...your Covid situation is dire, and yet some in Washington just offer hocus-pocus solutions...best elect a smarter leader in November..
