Wild Turkey

Although there will be turkey on our table, this young hen remains wild & free as when I spotted her in the early morning light.

However, my mom still tells stories about how - when she was a kid - her dad shot (and not with a camera) a wild turkey every year for their Thanksgiving dinner.

Same here with our brush turkeys ..... now they are protected, and appear everywhere, even in suburban streets! Very nice shot. The detail and light are great. Well done.

Beautiful image, BTW there's no better eating than a real wild turkey.

Hi Liz,
What wonderful lighting on this scene! \/ Is it true that wild turkeys have only dark meat? I have never found anybody that could answer that but I'll bet your mom could. Thanks

The intense red is the result of back lighting from strong, warm, morning light being filtered through the woods in the background.

still a good catch!

Great shot. I love the way the red stands out on the turkey.
