Hello everyone. I am so glad to see that there is a website for East Boogie. I was browsing the net to find old obituaries of my family that passed away in East Boogie and I stumbled onto this page. I am glad. I was born 12-15-72 and I lived on Virginia Place and then John Deshields. I attended Alta Sita, Hawthorne, John Robinson, Lucas then Hughes Quinn. My step father was killed in 1983 at work by David Taylor, then my uncle was killed in a car wreck 1/1/84 then my best friend sister was killed soon after then my classmates mother was killed shortly. The death of my moms closest friends was very hard to handle not only for her but me as well, just being 11 years old with two younger sisters. My mom decided to move away after someone broke into our apartment while we were upstairs sleep. I really miss beingin East St. Louis, but I don't think I could go back to live there. Not because of the crime, but because it makes me sad. I sometimes feel like my life would have been different if I had grown up in the city instead of moving to country Cotton Valley, Louisiana. I still have a few family members that live there. I go visit often. My little sister relocated back to East Boogie about 10 years ago and she says she isn't leaving. Does anyone know where I can find old obituaries of my friends and family that past away there? The paper was called the Monitor when I left in 1984. I would love to read some of the old news from back then. Can someone help???
