Falls, Zion Canyon

This photograph was taken on the rainy day in Zion Canyon prior to the day of the "Court of the Patriarchs" image. Waterfalls were everywhere in the canyon, and we could see one up a little side-canyon and hiked toward it. Upon arriving, it was clear that one could obtain a vantage point behind the waterfall - potentially creating a very dynamic photograph. After many attempts, I was able to get the blur of the water just right, and the composition fell into place nicely. Only problem was all of the spray coming from the falls, which soaked me and much of my equipment.

Very nice photo. And the talk of soaked equipment reminds me of shooting in Oregon in December.

Really fine work, Brian. I've tried to photograph the falls at Zion myself, and know how difficult it can be. Sorry to hear about your gear getting wet, but the results is excellent.

This is breathtaking! I had to look closely to see if it was sun or water. Wonderful.

This shot is cool! When I was there last month they had the trail closed to get behind here due to the floods, did they open it back up or did we do a little sneaking to get this excellent shot. :)

What a spectacle, what an adventure. Your photo almost brings the sound of the waterfall.
