This is not a typical image of mine...but emotions got the best of me this day and this was the result. I was in the Slide Rock area of Oak Creek Canyon, looking for Autumn images. However, what struck me was not the potential beauty of the area, but rather the abundance of polution, the devastating defacing of the rocks, and obscene graffiti liberally drawn on the beautifal walls of red sandstone. Rather than being uplifted by being in such a wonderful place, I was sober; hurt; sad.
This image reflects the feelings of that afternoon...the cold, dark, desaturated canyon wall, with a hint of graffiti, is anything but inviting. It is ominous. There is beauty within this frame, but it is fleeting...ephemeral.
