My favorite images are frequently my most simple...this is a good case in point. I was giving my new 85mm f/1.8 lens a workout this morning, looking at more intimate views of the Sedona landscape. As I was walking back to the car, I noticed the sun shining through the forest and catching a leaf which was caught between two large branches. I composed versions of this image from a distance, and close up, and much prefer the simplicity and strength of the tighter composition. This one was shot wide open in order to make the depth of focus very, very shallow, and emphasize the leaf against the background.
