This enclosure, near the church of Saint Maclou (also known as Saint Malo), was established as a charnel house during the Black Death of 1348, when (according to the tourism office) two-thirds of the neighborhood's population died. The current decor, dating to the late sixteenth century, recalls its origins (see following photos). It is now part of the Regional School of Fine Arts. It must be odd taking classes in a former cemetery.
