Cologne (Köln) is the largest city in North Rhine Westphalia and fourth largest in the country with one million inhabitants. It is the oldest major German city founded by Romans 2000 years ago. Now it has become a major rail junction and important inland port. Cologne is one of the five church provinces in former West Germany.
