Washington Street Skate Park

One boring day while working at a stark job, I decided to take lunch break with my co-worker and fellow photographer who really inspired me to pick the camera back up and again, and finally buy a DSLR. (John Dick of www.stopdrag.com) We went to this skate park that some friends of mine were building and decided to take some photos. This shot always stuck out to me.. and sadly it's the only photo left of the whole shoot. I have a bad habit of shooting more then I can process...and sadly the machine all my raw files awaiting to one day be processed were on.. caught fire, and the hard drives were destroyed.

I'm not sure why the cement turned out blue, or the top of the freeway yellow, or how to be honest, but I've always liked this photo non-the less even if parts of it are slighty over exposed. I don't think the subject ever knew I took this shot either, he was just kinda standing out there pondering what to do next.. I really hope to revisit and shoot this skate park again, now that it's complete. There are some really interesting features and paintings threw out it, including some really neat IRON work on a hand built fence.

Several things appeal to me: the skate park subject, the colors, the form of the concrete, the out-of-place appearance of the debris, and the mystery about what's going on in the head of the person in the picture. But best of all is the realization that this is next to railroad tracks (I see a hooded railway signal light on the left).
