They had great information on their blog about other places. I'm just loving it (McD's term). :-)

Without wasting off 3 days long weekend in conjunction of Malaysia King's Birthday. We decided to have a break in Perhentian Island. This is my first time to Perhentian Island and same goes to 3 of my friends Anson, FC & GC. Departing from Kampungku, Gelugor with a van before dawn heading towards Kuala Besut pier. Along the way we met up a friendly couple and 5 energetic and cheerful girls. :-) En route we experienced a steep and winding road as well as a foggy phenomena along the newly build East-West Highway, the air was cooling since we were at moderate altitude. The new road links from Grik to Machang was pretty adventurous and awful whereby no lights and messy, if driving with no experience might be quite hazardous. Journey from Penang Island to Kuala Besut takes approximately 6 hours via Grik, along the way we had our breakfast there. Well, I would say it seems that only one chinese restaurant in that area. They speak Cantonese!! While reaching Kuala Besut pier is almost noon, we had our lunch at the one and only chinese restaurant. The food there was pretty good but it is advisable that call up for booking otherwise you will end up by only having drinks. :-) With speed boat from Kuala Besut to Perhentian Island it takes only 45 mins. Our boatman was great and experienced. The wave and current was pretty moderate and you may observed that the color of sea water from muddy yellow slowly changed to transparent blue whereby sailing further out to the South China Sea. Upon arrival at Perhentian Island, we were greet by the blue sky and turquoise sea water. This trip we were staying with Arwana Resort. Upon check-in complicated procedure need to be done. The outlook of this resort was good however the maintenance was a bit off from expectation. Most of the workers here are friendly except one of the Malay-lady Receptionist. CAUTION: Keep the room key by yourself NEVER drop at reception. (Click here for TRUE STORY and comments)

We are glad that we had a great group accompany us along this trip. Full of laughter and joy throughout this journey. Upon returning to Penang Island, we stopover at Bukit Bunga (Kelantan) and we did a lot of shopping, especially the "Keropok Ikan Parang" Mmmmm yummy!!. :-) Journey carry on and we take a break at Banding Island situated in the middle of "Temenggor Lake" in Perak for lunch.
