Thanks Jan. Do you think a nikon D300 body is okay? Will be using a 18-70mm lens. Ya I heard about the "reviewing of photographs" at customs. Guess they will only check the memory card inside the camera at the point of time you clear the customs, right? Will they check on the "spare memory cards" or conventional film camera?

Dear "Guest"!

Yes, it is true that normally one are not allowed to take pictures of military personell or installatiaons. However, at the border post at Panmunjon it is OK. Actually not only OK. I was strongly encouraged by my guides to take as many pics as possible!

Unless the rules has changed since august 2010 a DSLR is no problem. I used a Canon EOS 550d with EF-S 18-85 mm lens. I know that they previous had a limit on the size of objectives, but I think they have lifted the regulations. But to be on the safe side I would seek some more up to date info on this. Your tour operator would be a good start.

Be aware that the customs may go through your pics when leaving the country. But this did not happend to me. The immigration/customs/security checks were suprisingly relaxed in my case. They did not bother to check anything but my documents at either arrival nor departure. But do not count on that!

Enjoy your trip to the most surrealistic country in the world!
