NGC7331 at mag 9.5 is one of the brighter galaxies not included in Messier's catalog.
It is thought to be similar to what our galaxy would look like from a like distance and angle.
The five companion galaxies that complete the group are, MCGC-49-44 at mag 15.5 is in the lower right corner, NGC7340 at mag 14.7 is located at top center,
NGC7337 at mag 15.2 is the barred spiral galaxy above and to the left of NGC7331, to the right is NGC7335 a mag 14.5 lenticular galaxy,
and finally above and to the right is NGC7336 a mag 17 spiral galaxy.
Under closer examination many background galaxies mag 17 and fainter can be seen.
