Evangelical Home and School in Ramallah, Palestine were founded by three ladies- - one an American and two from Wales in the UK.

It was October, 1954, and the Holy Land was still reeling from the warfare that came with the establishment and recognition of the State of Israel in May of 1948. Mary Jeanne Grupp had come from the USA to help out in the Home of the Sons Orphanage and School in Ramallah, and then joined with Kit Morgan and Gladys Thomas from Swansea. Wales, to open a new Home and School for girls. Later these ladies joined with others to form the Emmanuel Sisters. The Home and School are operated under the guidance of the Arab Episcopal Church -- the Jerusalem Diocese. The School is now known as THE ARAB EVANGELICAL EPISCOPAL SCHOOL, and is administered by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem.

In the year 2004-2005 we experienced significant changes, as both Sr. Vreni Wittwer and Samira Nasser retired after many fruitful years of service.

Another change transpired on June 1, 2005, when we joined forces with the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. We are now one entity.
