4/13 - Closer

Home, Backyard

This is one of the strawberrys growing on my wife's freshly planted strawberry vines.

As some of you know I have been toying with macro shots for a couple of months now and mouthing about not having a proper Macro lens.
Last weekend I broke down and ordered one. This is a whole new world. Wow. I have never had a real macro before, just lenses that
pretended to be macros at the long end. I think I am going to like this.

Lesson #1 took about 20 seconds to learn. Shooting macro shots of flowers outside in a light breeze just does not work.

Here is a shot of the new lens itself, per a request from a buddy.

Try getting a piece of translucent rip-stop nylon at a local fabric store.
Build a frame to attach the fabric to (pvc pipe or wood). You can use it to block that slight breeze and still allow a soft light through to illuminate your subject. It will eliminate some of those motion problems.
Now I have to take my own advice!

Very unusual - taken like this it reminds me of a flower bud.
