Every tiger economy needs an airport of substance, and Singapore's doesn't disappoint. Traveling across Asia this year, I counted check-in counters, tallied airport amenities, and whatever other measures, groping for yardsticks to determine the greatest of them all. The largest Asian airports are humongous and epitomes of efficiency but Singapore's Chang-i airport goes a step further: they actually make it enjoyable to hang around before a flight, not just a place to see while passing through. Pocket gardens with orchids and Koi, waiting lounges that are actually cushy and quiet, free movies and internet, unique activities for the kids, plus the usual business amenities and shopping... They sure have my vote. Enjoy.
