dear Brian,I first arrived in Muscat way back in 1974 and leaving late 1986,my job was aircraft maintenance working with the Sultanate of Oman Air Force.I can distincly remember the old wall surrounding the town of Muscat with the large wooden gates,which were locked at night.About 1976 Oman started a massiive development programe and Oman exploded onto the scene.Soon I intend to return for a holiday and after seeing your fantastic photo images you have convinced me further that I must once again walk into Mutrah souk. Great photos and really liked the ones of Castle Jabrin,(built 1670 and fromer capital of Oman), Nizwa and Bahla. The interior is so interesting, not to say the coastal area is not. I was at the U.S. Embassy 82-84 and really enjoyed the country and it's people.

Brought back memories of old. Was there as family practitioner and MO of the Port Clinic 1976. Actaully set it up with an American Brit Barry Metcalfe from UNDP. Presently in the US; am doing a writeup on the Jalali, would like permission to use images with credit to you. Best Dr. Holmes
