I was born in doha, and this weekend I will be going to Doha to search for my Old House where I was born. It was in Farij Al Ghanim Al Jadeed, near to my House there was a Shia Imambargh (Mosque). Hello Brian, Thanks a lot for all these pics. I was born and grew up in Doha and lived right there near the bank street previously called "Hamad Road". My father had a watchmaking shop in Souq Waqif for 40 years. I grew up watchin these big banks buildings. These pics remind me my childhood. Right there in Souq Al-Aseri where the little Habib Bank branch, I used to play and shop around that area......It reminds me my beautiful memories...that Souq Waqif... oh...it touched my heart...my beloved dad spent almost his life there....he passed away in 2000...thanks a lot again for these beautiful pics...

But a couple of points -- contrary to popular belief the Al Kut fort was not the Turkish garrison. The one the Turks occupied has long gone.
