Saturday was a Kohala Watershed Partnership volunteer day, removing Himalayan ginger at Pu'u Pili in North Kohala. There were snails everywhere, and I had to remove several from my pack that apparently got there when the cut ginger fell on my head. We did a brief expedition up the stream we were working in, and in addition to the usual plants I found a Kohala cyanea tritomantha ('aku), and my first-ever patch of joinvillea ascendens ('ohe).
Bird numbers and species were typical for Pu'u Pili.
