NGC 4244 (also 26 on the Caldwell List) is a spiral
galaxy seen edge-on. It is relatively close at a distance
of about 6.5 million light years, and is considerably
smaller than the Milky Way Galaxy, having a diameter of
65,000 light years. Along the length of the galaxy some
of the denser clusters of stars can be seen (blue), along
with a few of the emission nebulae (red).
