After being a rockhound since I was a kid in the 60's I have finally begun experimenting with the lapidary arts to see if any of the many mineral specimens I have collected over the years can be improved to better show the natural beauty within them. Here are photos of my efforts since acquiring a Crystalite flap grinder just a couple of months ago.
While the macro shots clearly highlight the best features giving some extra detail and pop seen only under great lighting, it also showcases flaws that are not nearly so apparent to the naked eye. Some no matter how many shots you take just don't photograph well.
