15th - Blinkin' Old

Condicote, Glos. view map

Still jet-lagged so just a quick revisit to Condicote today to take in better the church Finn and I spied a couple of weeks ago; built in the 12th century, I hadn't realised this lovely little church of St. Nicholas was quite so ancient! That makes it around nine hundred years old, give or take a few decades...blimey!

A beautiful church, I really like the stonework and how it's full of light.

Think of the number of weddings and funerals that have taken place in this precious little church! It's beautiful!

Such a simple little church, yet perfect. It has stood through the ages... imagine what it has seen in its 900+ years! Humbling. V

Wonderful old Romanesque architecture in the background, though the arch is early Gothic. Nice perspective and exposure.

I hope it's not haunted by the builder that put those columns in slightly skew... 900 years of "ooh I wish I'd made "em plumb". Too much ancient ale perhaps :o)

Blimey indeed, just think of all the people that have been in that church through the ages and what their lives must have been like. Lets hope these places are still there in another nine hundred years.

They don't make them like that anymore
