Inconspicuous from the outside, this small, modest cottage was purchased at the end of the 19th century to house the prayer rooms, one for men and one for women, of the Jewish community. Windows were built in between the rooms in order to communicate during services (pictured, right). The ritual butcher and other community services were located on the same property. Today the building is maintained by an elderly couple, one of the last Jewish families in the town.
