Like most American families, we subscribed to Life magazine when I was growing up in the fifties and sixties. What I remember most was first paging to the back so I could see those wonderful and wacky, lighthearted photos--such as the high stepping drum major or the little girl licking milk out of the kitty’s dish.

Those memories led me to put up this tribute gallery. In one way or another, each shot draws on the inspiration and joy that I got from looking at Life. These photos have given a smile and a chuckle to some and I hope you end up being one of them.
