Some shots from the 2007 Chico Air Show. Last year, the show featured a couple of aerobatic planes, a P-51 in D-day colors flying alongside an USAF F-15 Eagle. Wonderful shots. There was also some flyby's and touch n go's with a C-130.
This year, two 'tribute' fly-bys were done: A P-51, again in D-Day colors, flying along with an USAF F-16 Fighting Falcon. Again, nice flybys with great photo ops. There was also an F-18 and a T-28 from the naval side. I wasn't able to get shots of those since I was sitting in line waiting to drive in the airport.
Every shot here was done with a Canon 30D (most in one-shot, auto program, some in AV mode and aiservo) and what I am now convinced is a very sharp copy of the Canon 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS. IS was on, set to mode 1 even tho I should have been using 2 for the fly by shots. If you compare to last year's show, you'll see the difference in quality between the Sigma 70-300 APO and the Canon. Same Mustang (tho last year was overcast) but look at the image quality.
