The August trip was another success, and once again, there was no shortage of adventure. The clinic ran smoothly and we saw about 35 patients. The weather was about the hottest it has been all year, but there was a breeze through the clinic for most of the afternoon. Before crossing back over the border, we discovered that one of the patients we had seen had a potassium level of over 9! Simultaneously, one of the cars in the group got a flat tire. We went on a little detour to get the patient to the right place for dialysis. First, a local clinic that could not help, and then an Emergency Room in Tecate. It was getting dark, the group was separated, and we decided it was time to come home. Hopefully, we left him in the right hands and he is doing well. This was my 20th Trip to El Hongo, and I'm still ready for more...
