It's a Melaleuca, better known as the Paperbark tree.There are over 200 species of this genus of plants in the myrtle family. When in flower, it looks like a giant cauliflower from afar.

One of the things I love most about photography is its power to capture the mechanics of birds' flight. It's thrilling to see this one applying its brakes, wings and tail fanned out for maximum drag. I don't recognize the tree, which appears to be doing its best to turn into a cloud. The simplicity of the composition and its subject make the photo seem like an illustration for a myth or fairy tale. It's quite captivating.
