Some years after the war and after a long search for information about his missing son Karel, Jacques received a letter from the Dutch Red Cross dated 10th September 1948 with the news that Karel died on 11 December 1944 at 1.45pm in Ladelund, part of concentration camp Neuengamme, as the result of dysentry.
An extract from the death record registrar in Hamburg was send to the Civil Registry Office in Arnhem.
