Memory Lane

The old YMCA pool sits unused and desolate. Plenty of memories here, good and bad.
Tragically, in 1991 Linda Kosobucki (22yrs) lost her life here after one of her legs became stuck in the filtration system.

Hard to believe it's 20 years since that tragic incident

The story rings a bell. Very nice perspective and use of the wide angle. V.

Good use of the WA lens, but very sad story.

Yes, I remember reading about this incident in the press. It was tragic. Apparently she deliberately placed her foot in the drain (the cover had come off) to test the suction, and her leg was sucked down so that she could not raise her head above the surface and drowned after a couple of minutes frantic struggle to free herself. It happened at the shallow end, water was just over 4 feet deep.

Being interested in water safety, I do have all the press clipping sf this incident - if anyone has more information, or would like more information, I'd be glad to hear from them.

How tragic for Linda and her family. It does look a little spooky. Not very well lit either. Great shot though. V

A real mood setting shot, great work with that wide.
(What's to happen with this place now?)
