Dial Indicating Raker Gauge

This is a modified Morin gauge with a dial indicating gauge mounted on it. It works very well for setting and swaging rakers. There is no need to guess if you are making progress when swaging or when you are getting close. Set the gauge at zero with a straight edge and read the raker depth directly. Simple to make. The added angle is 1"x1"x1/8" bolted to the gauge with the original screws. The gauge is mounted on about a 3/4"x 1/4"x 2-1/2" steel piece welded to the angle.

The plates that the cutter teeth ride on are reversible, one way for full sized rakers/big gullets and one way for smaller rakers/gullets found on some oneman saws.

The dial indicator reads to 0.0005" but 0.001" should be fine. The total range of the indicator is about 0.1" and the tip is flat.

The photos should give enough detail to duplicate it or give ideas for other options.
