As it turned out, our driver and three of our companions who grew up in India could not read many
of the road signs. In the northern parts of India we experienced on this trip road signage was in
English and Hindi. While commercial advertising (noted in this picture) was largely in English, road
signage in the south of India was very rarely in Hindi or English. This was not an oversight on the
part of the government down there. It posed a minor problem at times.
