Power Station

Cockenzie

This 1960s coal-fired power station closed last year, and is now being slowly dismantled.
It dwarfs the small cottages in, what was, a small fishing village.
The light is dull and grey again, so I thought I would work with it rather than against it.

The sky is just so good; it almost seems as if the light is radiating from the old station. With that length of exposure I'd imagine that some ND filters are in play; unfortunately I have only one so far, a rather feeble ND2. I really need to get some that would allow this kind of work.

All three of these long exposure shots are terrific. ~V~

I love how you worked this one...what a pity it has to come down though.

I think the dull light and color are just perfect for a power plant. Very striking image, Bill.

Strangely wonderful with the contrasting shapes in the liquid gray sky. V

Good long exposure, the burst of light straight over the top works well with the buildings use.

A very beautiful capture in b&w! Love the tones!
