Gone Gannet

I finally got my X-T1 back from Fuji. It had gone in for a repair due to some dirt that seemed to be stuck under the sensor glass.
Anyway, it is back now, and all clean and spotless.
I took it for a walk across the beach, and found this dead gannet. They dive into the water at great speed, and occasionally must hit shallow rocks.

A very nice image. It is to bad the bird had to to die..

The Gannet is a remarkable bird. Researchers here have discovered they change the shape of their eyes just before they slam into the water. A sad but beautiful image Bill.

Such beautiful birds, but it's a risky strategy no doubt.

Good news on the camera, Bill, but not so for the gannet, sadly

Sad ending for such a beautiful creature. Rich detail here with the crusty rock and smooth feathers.

Not a pleasant sight. Took a similar shot in Arran a few years ago so I can't complain!
